Life brings tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry, the smile fades, but the memories live on forever.

My father Peter was a hardworking and good natured man. Growing up on a farm, then living in Lower Kingswood in the rolling hills of Surrey, he loved the countryside. I think the move to Canada with mum expanded that love of the outdoors and he greatly enjoyed the mountains and vast expanses that Canada has to offer. After moving back to England – he lived by the sea – another love of his. In talking to him recently – he seemed settled and happy in Paignton. As his mobility was slowly impacted by Parkinsons, my father kept a cheerful and uncomplaining demeanor and never mentioned his condition as an impairment. I think this attitude really represents his approach to everything in his life. Peter was incredibly proud of his four grandchildren Samantha, Luke, Finn and Owen and would talk about their accomplishments for hours. He was always fascinated by their education and projects, business endeavours and sports activities. Second to that – he loved to talk about sports and politics and weekly discussed with me about which cricket player or football team was doing something – or the terrible state of the UK or the US etc. I think his interest in News and current affairs is something that he passed along to me and to my boys Finn and Owen. We talked every week since he moved back to England, and I always felt that he was more connected to us in Canada because of having lived here for so long
